Hip wrapping instructions
Hip Hold Position - (Best for 5 months and older)
General Wrapping Instructions - Do before Cradle Hold
1. Fold entire sling horizontally in half so that fabric is not so wide to work with.
2. Find the middle of the sling and place across waist. |
3. Cris-cross the ends of the sling on your back making an X and bring fabric ends back over shoulder to your front. |
4. Criss-cross the ends of the fabric and tuck each end under waist fabric. |
5. Bring ends around to your back and tie in a knot. |
If fabric is too long on your back, wrap ends back to your front and tie on your waist. |
6. Spread shoulder fabric over your shoulders and make sure all other fabric is right side up. See video on YouTube |
Cradle Hold Position - Best for Newborn babies through first year
1. First follow the instructions under General Wrapping Instructions, above. Along your chest are two layers of fabric. Pull on one layer to open it up like a pouch. |
2. Place child on your shoulder opposite open pouch. |
Lean back a little, and slowly inch their feet into the sling toward your belly button. |
With feet in sling, start to turn baby's body so that their arm and side of body is resting against your body and inch their bottom into sling. |
Rest their head back in the pouch so that they are laying facing up toward opening of sling. With larger baby's place their legs into opposite pocket. |
Take the layer of fabric around your waist and pull over baby's body. |

Chest to Chest & Back to Chest Positions - Best for Babies over 2 months and older
1. First follow the instructions under General Wrapping Instructions, above. |
2. Take the fabric on your shoulder and find the piece closest to your body. Lean back a little while you place your child over opposite shoulder from sling and slowly inch their feet through this fabric. Baby's bum will rest on fabric, spread fabric over bum, arm and back. |
3. Place baby's other leg through the other side of your fabric. |
4. Use the fabric on your waist and tuck baby's legs one at a time through it. If your child is small, then keep legs right in the fabric for a close snuggle. |
5. Pull fabric up over baby's back, stop at the neck line, but keep the bottom of fabric under baby's bum. |

Back to Chest
Follow Chest to Chest instructions but face baby's body away from you.

Hip Wrapping Instructions
- Find the middle of your sling. Fold the entire sling in half width wise with the long ends hanging together.
- Place the folded middle onto your shoulder and the ends diagonally across your back toward opposite hip.
- Bring the fabric ends to the front of your body and up towards your shoulder with the fabric on it.
- Put the long ends through the fold on your shoulder to make a pouch on your body.
Hip Hold Instructions - Best for 5 months and older
- Follow the hip wrapping instructions
- Place your baby on opposite shoulder of sling fabric.
- Lean back a little while you gently lower baby in the pouch fabric on your hip. Spread fabric under baby's bottom and up their back.
- Put baby on your hip, with one leg in front and the other in back of your body.
- Support your child while tightening the two long ends of fabric by pulling on them so that your baby is securely against your body.
- Take one end closest to your baby and pull it under their bottom and leg that is on your back. Bring the other end to your back so that both pieces are on your back.
- Tie the ends together on your back comfortably and securely.
